The sycamores lean in over the sidewalks by mid-June, the Bank of America lot fills up on Saturdays before the market has finished setting up its canopies, and the same handful of tables at The Table stay half-turned toward the street from 10am to close. What has changed this year is not the shape. It is what fills it.
The last eighteen months quietly rearranged the Avenue's tenant list, and the Willow Glen Business Association's summer programming has settled into a rhythm that rewards residents who treat the street as infrastructure rather than a destination. The point of this piece is small and specific: if you live here, the summer is not organized around a few flagship events. It is organized around three walks a year and a Saturday morning that anchor everything in between.
